Who We’re Seeking

We’re seeking a fast-starting, multi-tasker who thrives in an agency or similar environment for a dual role as a senior account manager + team operations lead. The ideal candidate will embrace this opportunity playing an instrumental role in company growth and will understand how to see a long-range view along with short-term action that’s necessary to achieve both individual goals and team goals. 

Your role will be 70% account management, 30% team operations management. 

To be successful in this role, it will require: Strategic thought, relentless attention to detail, embracing a consultative mindset and approach, thinking 3 steps ahead, and being able to articulate these ideas, strategies, and recommendations both internally and externally, backed up with a solid strategy for why the recommendation is being made. You will also be able to thoughtfully provide guidance to team members to ensure that staff are staying on target to achieve team goals. You’ll be able to manage your schedule and maintain a balance between responsibilities. 

We are looking for an individual with strong leadership capabilities and a big capacity for leading in their role while being company-forward and demonstrating alignment to the company vision.

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled self-starter who takes pride in executing top-quality work and thrives on balancing multiple projects and is able to adapt and focus quickly, providing detailed attention to each task at hand. We are seeking a strategic thinker with project management + team leadership experience.

In this senior-level position where the magic of intuition and gut instinct meets the power of the strategic mind, the ideal candidate will understand how to see the big picture, as well as the step by step plan needed to achieve that vision.  

The ideal candidate will be a quick thinker who can ascertain what steps are necessary to move a project forward and can articulate that solution with grace and ease while fostering consensus among all parties involved. 

In your project management role (70%):

You will be responsible for developing appropriate recommendations to the client, creating and presenting proposals, building and maintaining relationships, project managing the execution of marketing campaigns among members of the team, and, at times, performing some of the execution yourself. You will manage 7-9 clients at a time while also providing high impact, valuable guidance to team members to help them stay on track with their goals.

You will engage a combination of people skills, strategic thought, and powerhouse project management skills daily. 

This senior-level role will require you to meet directly with prospective and current clients to conduct business needs analysis and then work with the internal team to develop a strategic plan to achieve their business objectives. You will work directly with clients, ensuring that deliverables and results are achieved. 

In your team management role (30%)

You will provide account management, professional development, and sales proposal guidance to an intimate yet mighty team of account managers and marketers to ensure that they are on track to achieve their goals. You are responsible for personal goals while supporting the team in achievement of team goals. You will lead weekly 1-1s and team meetings to help the team manage their workflows, and while reporting back to the company owner of the overall pace of projects and tracking toward company goals. 

You will directly support the account managers by providing guidance on strategic marketing plan recommendations, and pricing, and signing off on sales proposals. You will at times collaborate with and join account managers in sales consults to bring your high level of expertise to the process to help nurture clients into the best suited strategic plan. 

You will collaborate with the company owner to maintain a revenue tracker and continue evaluating team productivity and capacity to ensure that the team is on track for growth goals and has the necessary resources to achieve those goals.  

The ideal candidate will have a big passion and positive can-do attitude for helping our team succeed. 

We are looking for someone who is a problem-solver and self-starter who needs to be managed minimally. You must be extremely skilled at self-management and time management and can be relied upon to meet KPIs while thriving in a remote environment.

The ideal candidate will be a competent leader able to provide guidance that enhances performance in a manner that incorporates the company’s vision and culture. The position will be 40 hours per week however you are trusted to manage your time working more or less as needed to achieve your KPIs, goals, and deadlines. While the hours are flexible with up to 100% remote available within the US, if you are within the Madison, WI area, you will join the team in office 1 day/week for team in-office days.

Duties/Responsibilities

Account manager duties

  • Conduct consultative sales calls and meetings by phone, video, and in-person
  • Develop detail-oriented, integrated recommendations and proposals tied to clear strategy for presentation to the client
  • Create comprehensive data-driven marketing strategies and plans using multiple data points (Google Analytics, sales trends, social media stats, market research, online leads)
  • Communicate with clients and serve as liaison between client and internal SP team to ensure that all parties are on the same page and moving toward the defined goals
  • Project manage the execution of marketing strategies within the team, ensuring that all deadlines are adhered to and that all work is delivered at or above expectation in alignment with the client brand and the goals of the marketing plan; this will at times include executing various aspects of the plan yourself, which may include:
    • Digital advertising strategy
    • Content strategy
    • Media strategy and buy development
    • Public relations strategy development
    • Developing and guiding client messaging based on their business goals and brand to ensure brand consistency throughout all forms of marketing advertising, including email marketing, TV, radio ads, digital ads, print, and website
    • A combination of these specific responsibilities (to be determined based on your skill and experience), including:
  • Report to clients on statuses of campaigns, providing ongoing consultation to retain the relationship and continue moving progress forward

Team operations duties

  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to team members on the design and implementation of marketing plans and proposals
  • Ensure that team sales goals are achieved
  • Guide staff to manage their time, productivity and workflows
  • Create contracts for owner approval
  • Report to owner about team performance and sales pacing

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associates, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, small business management, communications, digital marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of related work experience; previous agency or marketing director experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, including the ability to clearly and compassionately articulate the following in oral/written format: 
    • Feedback to team members regarding project statuses, timelines, and deadlines; execution of work; and ongoing skill and strategy development 
    • Project objectives and action steps via email and Slack
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and preferred knowledge of Excel formulas
  • Proficient at developing, managing, and overseeing implementation of comprehensive media plans that include various tactics such as social media, broadcast, print, email marketing, digital marketing including Facebook, Instagram, and Google ads, graphic design, web design, and SEO
  • Understanding of when to utilize various marketing and communications strategies, how they are implemented, and how they are measured
  • Grasps various marketing and sales tactics and understands when to utilize them
  • Able to create a step-by-step organized marketing plan for recommendation to the client, and for the team to execute
  • Effective communicator with the ability to articulate complex topics simply and succinctly
  • Detail- and results-oriented, embracing a salesperson mentality
  • Ability to work individually with strong time-management abilities
  • Can collaborate effectively with other team members, including the company founder, digital marketers, web designer, copywriters, and assistants 
  • Experience with developing and maintaining client and vendor relationships
  • Option to work 100% remote, must be based in the US
  • Reliable transportation, which (at times) may require 40+ miles of travel to meet with clients
  • Preferred: experience managing a marketing or similar team in a similar environment 
  • Preferred: understanding of research methods and marketing data analysis techniques
  • Preferred: understanding of media strategy, public relations strategy skills, strong writing and editing ability, strong understanding of digital marketing

Salary Range

  • Base + commission based on accounts managed + team performance
  • First-year earnings projected at $68,000-$80,000+ depending on experience; potential to grow into much higher earnings
